One of Miami’s major museums is the Historical Museum of Southern Florida that undertakes to tell the tales of bygone days in the regions of South Florida and the Caribbean, this large private museum was accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1979 and acts as the storehouse of all archaeological materials unearthed in the Miami Dade County. Located in Downtown Miami, the museum has a collection of over 12,000 objects and has something to attract visitors of varied preferences, it informs history in a novel manner and it's exhibition space covers two floors.
In the top floor is the ‘Tropical Dreams’ section that is a permanent gallery exhibiting 12,000 years of history, besides, there are two rotating galleries of temporary exhibitions, a Research Centre for scholars and museum professionals and a gift shop, the bottom floor houses museum offices and some collections and classrooms for educational programmes and lectures.
