The Bass Museum of Art, has delighted visitors since 1963 and along with the Lowe Art Museum and the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, is considered one of Miami’s finest museums on ancient art. Located at the Miami Beach Public Library and Art Centre, the museum’s speciality is wide ranging from Reniassance to modern art, the museum building, which itself is an arresting piece of architecture reflecting art deco style, houses the extensive collection donated by art collectors, John and Johanna Bass.
The Bass Museum of Art is a favourite with vistors for both it's temporary exhibits and permanent, traditional ones, the museum’s fascinating treasures include the 15th century ‘The Coronation of the Virgin’ by Botticelli’, Ruben’s ‘The Holy Family’, Rococo portraits along with a collection of 16th century Flemish tapestries. The gift shop of the museum offers visitors books on art, architecture and photography, besides decorative gift items and jewelry pieces by local and international craftsmen and folk art from all over the world.
