The Jewish Museum of Florida, located at Miami Beach is housed in two historic buildings that were formerly synagogues, the main museum building was built in 1936 and finds mention in the National Register of Historic Places, the museum has a copper dome with 80 stained glass windows, the adjacent building, built in 1929, housed Miami Beach's first synagogue and was restored as a museum annexe before opening to the public in 2007.
The Jewish Museum of Florida highlights the rich historical significance of Jews to its visitors, whether Jew or non-Jew, a local resident or tourist, the museum’s main appeal is it's tale of Jewish history, heritage and values since 1763 through it's mosiac and Jewish Life in Florida that contains over 500 photographs and artefacts, the museum is a centre of excellence and hosts its own travelling exhibitions and sponsors cultural programmes and communicates the Jewish experience through it's Collections and Research Centre.
